Estimating Public Bicycle Trip Characteristics with Consideration of Built Environment Data

چکیده
A reliable estimation of public bicycle trip characteristics, especially distribution and duration, can help decision-makers plan for the relevant transport infrastructures assist operators in addressing issues related to imbalance. Past research studies have attempted understand relationship between generation, attraction factors such as built environment, weather, population density, etc. However, these typically did not include distribution, detailed information on environment. This paper aims estimate daily i.e., attraction, duration using points interest smart card data from Nanjing, China. Negative binomial regression models were developed examine effect environment usage. Totally fifteen types (POIs) are investigated residence, employment, entertainment, metro station found be statistically significant. The results showed that 300 m buffer POIs restaurant, bus stop, station, amenity, school significantly positive effects generation while, counterintuitively, shopping, parks, attractions, sports, hospital negative effects. Specifically, an increase 1% distance leads a 2.36% decrease origin-destination (OD) trips or 0.54% duration. We also number other nearby stations reduce 0.19% OD trips. this offer useful insights better estimating usage providing services improve ridership.

Categorisation of built environment characteristics: the trouble with tertiles
BACKGROUND In the analysis of the effect of built environment features on health, it is common for researchers to categorise built environment exposure variables based on arbitrary percentile cut-points, such as median or tertile splits. This arbitrary categorisation leads to a loss of information and a lack of comparability between studies since the choice of cut-point is based on the sample d...

OBJECTIVE This study examined the cross-sectional and longitudinal relationships of built environment characteristics with adiposity and glycaemic measures. METHOD Longitudinal study sample consisted of 4,010 Framingham Heart Study Offspring (baseline: 1998-2001; follow-up: 2005-2008) and Generation Three (baseline: 2002-2005; follow-up: 2008-2011) participants (54.8% women, baseline mean age...

throughout human evolution history, beauty has always been one of the necessary integral components of human need. as greer (2010) said, “one of the prehistoric human’s responses to the animal life around them was to etch and paint these animals on the walls of their caves. turning them into art and rendering them beautiful was a natural response - a way to help make sense of a hostile and conf...

Council 1981), yet we know much more about ambient environmental factors and health than we do about the " built environment " and health. Conceptually, the built environment includes all of the physical structures engineered and built by people—the places where we live, work, and play. These edifices include our homes, workplaces , schools, parks, and transit arrangements. How we design and bu...
